The Federal Reserve’s labor market conditions index tracks 19 labor-market indicators to get a sense of the health of the job market. The index rose to 1.3 in January after falling to 0.6 in December. November was 1.5. The Fed doesn’t comment on the index, but the Conference Board said its employment trend index was driven higher by better sentiment about the jobs market and the drop in initial claims for unemployment insurance.
