The Treasury Department reports the federal government expects to borrow $188 billion in the October-December quarter, that’s $6 billion higher than what was projected in August. It assumes of an end-of-December cash balance of $390 billion. During the January-March quarter, Treasury expects to borrow $56 billion in net marketable debt assuming a cash balance of $100 billion.
