| Crude-oil futures fell slightly as investors focused on risks to oil demand if the U.S. doesn’t avoid falling off the fiscal cliff of tax hikes and spending cuts that will occur in January if politicians can’t strike a budget deal. | U.S. oil output is poised to surpass Saudi Arabia’s in the next decade, making the world’s biggest fuel consumer almost self-reliant and putting it on track to become a net exporter, the International Energy Agency reports. Growing supplies of crude extracted through new technology including hydraulic fracturing will transform the U.S. into the largest producer starting about 2020, the Paris-based adviser to 28 nations said today in its annual World Energy Outlook. The U.S. met 83 percent of its energy needs in the first six months of this year, according to the Department of Energy. | |||||||
| Homebuilders D.R. Horton and Beazer Homes reported earnings. D.R. Horton reported a big jump in net profit for it’s fourth quarter ended Sept. 30 of $100 million. SeperatelyBeazer Homes posted a wider-than-forecast loss for its, but revenue topped analysts’ view. | |||||||
