The KUIK Morning Market Report for Monday, November 12:
U.S. stocks opened with modest gains Monday on thinking the standoff in Washington over automatic spending cuts and tax   hikes could be resolved.

Technology stocks are up.  Apple edged higher on news of a broad licensing agreement with HTC Corp. to end patent-related legal disputes. Apple was up nearly 1% at $551.80. Shares of Research In Motion also rose 4% to $8.90 after the company announced a “launch event” for its new BlackBerry 10 mobile operating system for Jan. 30, 2013.
President Barack Obama will meet with Congressional leaders at the White House of Friday to begin discussions on how to reach an agreement to avert going over the fiscal cliff.
U.S. oil output is poised to surpass Saudi Arabia’s in the next decade, making the world’s biggest fuel consumer almost self-reliant and putting it on track to become a net exporter, the International Energy Agency   reports. Growing supplies of crude extracted through new technology including   hydraulic fracturing will transform the U.S. into the largest producer   starting about 2020, the Paris-based adviser to 28 nations said today in its annual World Energy Outlook. The U.S. met 83 percent of its energy needs in   the first six months of this year, according to the Department of Energy.
