The Commerce Department reports housing starts fell 2.8% in October to an annual rate of 1.01 million down from 1.04 million in September. Economists expected slightly more at 1.03 million. Apartment starts fell 15.5%, but starts for single-family homes rose 4.2% for the fastest pace since November 2013. Overall construction was up 7.8% from October of 2013. |
The Wall Street Journal reports President Obama will announce the executive actions he will take to change immigration rules on Friday in Las Vegas. The changes would reportedly protect up to 5 million unauthorized immigrants from deportation, and many would be given work permits. Republicans are opposed to Obama acting alone, are looking at ways to block funding for agencies that would carry out the executive orders. |
