The Commerce Department reports orders for durable goods fell 1.3% in September for the second straight drop, as demand fell products including autos and computers. Economists expected a 0.2% increase. Leaving out the volatile transportation sector, orders fell by a smaller 0.2%. Orders for core capital goods, a measure of business investment, fell 1.7% for the biggest drop since January. Durable-goods orders for August were unrevised at an 18.4% drop due to fewer aircraft orders after a large July. |
A survey from WalletHub found that beer and wine prices could vary by almost 100% depending on the city. The average price of a six-pack of beer in Baton Rouge, La. which has the cheapest beer in America was $7.41, compared with $13.31 in both Aurora, Ill., and Chicago tied for the honor of priciest beer in the nation, beating the runner-up by more than $3. Portland, Oregon made the list for having the priciest wine in Amercia at $13.22 a bottle. |
