Federal Reserve chairman Janet Yellen in her first press conference said that rate hikes could happen about six months after the Fed stops buying bonds. The FOMC decided to trim the bond purchases by another $10 billion this month and shifted its outlook on interest rates. Officials believe the fed funds rate could reach 2.25% by the end of 2016 instead of 1.75% under their old forecast. |
