Mick Mulvaney, Republican congressman from South Carolina, and President Trump’s pick to head the White House budget office said yesterday that increasing the retirement age for Social Security should be considered. Mulvaney testified yesterday before the Senate Budget Committee. Bernie Sanders, independent from Vermont, and others questioned him about his past statements on  Social Security and Medicare.

President Trump took steps to advance construction of the Keystone XL and Dakota Access oil pipelines. Trump stopped short of green lighting construction on either pipeline but put a deadline on the government’s review of TransCanada’s proposed Keystone XL to transport Alberta oil sands crude to U.S. refineries. He also announced policies to encourage the use of American-made products in U.S. pipeline projects and to expedite federal environmental reviews for major infrastructure projects.
