Chicago Federal Reserve President Charles Evans said today he is concerned that the central bank may not be able to reach its 2% inflation goal. The Core Personal Consumption Expenditures index has risen to 1.7% annually. In a speech at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York Evan said the Fed is within “hailing distance” of its target,  and that wage growth has been modest and could improve without being inflationary.
