The Labor Department reports the consumer price index decreased 0.2% in March, led by lower energy and apparel costs. Analysts expected a .1% decline. Core prices which exclude volatile food and energy costs increased 0.1%, less than the 0.2% gain expected by Analysts. More good news..energy prices decreased 2.6% in March, retracing half of the 5.4% rise in February and gasoline fell 4.4%. |

The Federal Reserve said industrial production rose a seasonally adjusted 0.4% in March, and February’s growth was revised higher to 1.1% from the initially reported 0.8% advance. Economists polled by MarketWatch had forecast a 0.3% monthly gain. |

Can you sue the Federal Reserve? A woman in China thinks so. According to a South China Morning Post report, the woman and her attorney son have filed a lawsuit against the Federal Reserve for driving down the real value of her dollar holdings – totaling $250 – by roughly 30%. She is seeking $1 in damages and a promise from the U.S. central bank to stop abusing its “monopoly” over currency creation, according to the report. Her lawyer contends that the Fed qualifies as a private institution, and therefore is culpable under China’s 2008 Anti-Monopoly Law. See you in court. |
