The Federal Housing Finance Agency announced today that starting in 2018, the maximum conforming loan limit for loans guaranteed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be $453,100. That’s 6.8% higher than the 2017 cap of $424,100, which was the first increase in nearly a decade. They agency wouldn’t increase the limit until home prices regained their pre-housing crash levels. Late in 2016, the FHFA said its home price index had regained 2007 levels.
