The fight for control of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is underway, with President Trump’s nominee Mick Mulvaney meeting staff at the agency and Obama holdover Leandra English saying she is in charge. Mulvaney was named acting director of the CFPB by the White House, while English was named acting director by outgoing director Richard Cordray. Both say they have the legal right to the position before President Trump nominates and the Senate confirms a replacement for Cordray.
