Richard Thaler, professor of behavioral science and economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, has won the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for 2017. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said Thaler’s contributions built a bridge between the economic and psychological analyses of individual decision-making. Thaler is considered one of the founding fathers of behavioral economics.
The White House sent Congress a set of principles that would increase immigration enforcement at the border and inside the U.S. and limit new legal arrivals, in return for legislation to help Dreamers. Among the principles is funding to complete construction of a Southern border wall, detaining asylum applicants while their cases are being considered, and punishing jurisdictions that don’t cooperate with federal immigration enforcement known as “sanctuary cities” by withholding federal grant money.
