The KUIK Closing Market Report for Monday, January 16:
Markets were closed in honor of Martin Luther King Day but the news continued
U.K. stocks ended a choppy session slightly lower on Monday, with the pound trimming losses ahead of a key Brexit speech by Prime Minister Theresa May on Tuesday. The FTSE 100 fell 0.2% to close at 7,327.13, breaking a 14-day winning streak. Last Friday it hit its 12th consecutive all-time closing high. February gold ended up 0.6%, to $1,203.00 an ounce. That’s an eight week closing high, driven by Brexit and new policies from the incoming Trump administration.
