Marketwatch reports President-elect Trump has offered the post of Attorney General to Sen. Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.). He’s giving the job to one of his most trusted supporters and a longtime critic of U.S. immigration policy. Sessions is expected to accept the offer. He is a former U.S. attorney who was first elected to the Senate in 1996 and was one of Trump’s first supporters on Capitol Hill.
In another story President-elect Trump has offered Rep. Mike Pompeo (R., Kan.) the job of Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Pompeo is a key member of the House Intelligence Committee. He is a former Army officer and Harvard Law School graduate. He was first elected to Congress in 2010 and has been one of the harshest critics of the Iran nuclear deal.
The Conference Board reports the U.S. is growing at a moderate pace and is likely to do so through early 2017. The leading economic index rose 0.1% in November after a 0.2% gain in October. It’s a gauge of 10 indicators designed to signal business-cycle expansions and recessions.
