Intel is going Hollywood. Yesterday at the Intel Developer Forum it announced America’s Greatest Makers is coming to television in 2016. Intel, United Arists and Turner Broadcasting are creating a reality television program in hopes of developing the must-have wearable or connected-home product that will solidify the Internet of Things. Since CEO Brian Krzanich took over in 2013, he has focused on hobbyists known as makers who build things themselves, as a way of getting development help for the next big thing. Intel is developing a tiny, button-size hardware module called Curie — named for physicist Marie Curie — to power wearable devices from smartwatches to rings. Intel will offer a $1 million prize for best product. |
