European stocks had their first gain of 2015 after the European Union’s statistics agency reported consumer prices in December were 0.2% below their level of December 2013. That was below expectations for a drop to negative 0.1% annually and it was the first time since October 2009 that consumer prices fell on an annual basis, putting pressure on the European Central Bank to launch further stimulus measures. |
