Marketwatch reports the Federal Communications Commission voted 5-0 today to end federal enforcement of the blackout rule that prevents some professional sports events, such as NFL games, from being broadcast locally if the game is not sold out. The rule was first adopted in the mid-1970s. The NFL can continue to black out games on its own, though it could face more legal challenges if it does. |
