October crude fell 1.2%, to settle at $91.67 a barrel on the New York Merc. That was the lowest settlement since Jan. 9. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries said in a monthly oil outlook that demand for its oil will be lower next year. A surge in U.S. production is expected to slash OPEC’s production to levels not seen since 2009, when output fell due to the global financial crisis. |
