August crude fell 0.7%, to $106.06 a barrel. U.S. crude jumped last Friday, closing at the highest level for a front-month futures contract in nine months on worries about Iraq. Today, Secretary of State John Kerry met with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and other senior Iraqi political and religious leaders in a bid to forge a united front against Islamist militants gaining power in western Iraq, according to The Wall Street Journal. |
