The 3.45 million long-term jobless workers in April who have been job hunting for at least 27 weeks make up about 35.3% of total unemployed. Down from 37.4% a year ago, but it’s more than twice a rate of 17.4% when the recession started at the end of 2007, according to the Labor Department. |
