The Commerce Department reports consumer spending outpaced income growth in November. Consumer spending rose 0.5% in November. Personal income rose 0.2%. Wall Street economists had expected a 0.5% gain for spending and an 0.4% gain for income. The savings rate fell to 4.2% from 4.5% in October. 
Shares of ARM Holdings rose 2.5% after Apple confirmed yesterday that it has reached a deal with China Mobile to carry the iPhone. Apple uses ARM chips in its iPhones,.
Today is the final day for consumers to get new health coverage under Obamacare.  That has thousands of consumers racing to sign up in time.  Health insurers are trying to figure out whether the federal health law will work in the way they had intended.  The Cover Oregon website says that If you have not heard from them about your enrollment options by Dec. 23 and need coverage on Jan. 1 you enroll directly with an insurance company by either contacting the company or working with an insurance agent.
