The Commerce Department reports the U.S. trade gap climbed to $41.8 billion from a slightly revised $38.7 billion in August.  Economists expected $39.7 billion.  This is the third straight month of increase.  In September, imports increased 1.2% to $230.7 billion, while exports dipped 0.2% to $188.9 billion.  The trade deficit with China hit a record  $30.5 billion, but the trade gap with the European Union fell to $8 billion from $9.8 billion. 
Freddie Mac reports the average rate for the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose to 4.35% in the week that ended Nov. 14, hitting the highest level in two months, from 4.16% the week before.  A year ago, the 30-year rate was at 3.34%. The average rate for the 15-year fixed-rate mortgage rose to 3.35% from 3.27%..
President Obama is scheduled to make an announcement today at 8:35 Pacfific Time regarding the Affordable Care Act, he will disclose fixes in the law to allow those who want to keep their insurance policies to do so. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi told reporters earlier today that the president has been formulating a fix to the law, and is looking toward an administrative remedy, not a legislative solution.
