Congress finally ran out of ways to patch over its differences. Unable to meet a midnight Monday deadline for funding the government, lawmakers allowed it to shut down for the first time in seventeen years. The White House announced that President Obama will deliver a statement from the Rose Garden on this morning at 9:25 a.m. Pacific time. |
|
Jamie Dimon, the chairman a of J.P. Morgan Chase and other bank executives are scheduled to meet with President Barack Obama on tomorrow, according to a report this morning’s Wall Street Journal. The executives will go to the White House to discuss the government shutdown and efforts to raise the federal debt ceiling. There is growing concern than Congress will struggle to raise the debt limit by the Oct. 17 deadline, especially after lawmakers were unable to find a compromise to keep the government running. |
