After being mocked for having an illegible scrawl for a   signature, Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew unveiled his updated John Hancock —   the one that will grace all U.S. banknotes starting in the fall. Even   President Barack Obama made light of Lew’s signature when Lew was nominated   for the top job at Treasury in January. New York Magazine had likened the old   signature to a broken Slinky or the hair of Sally Brown in the Peanuts comic   strip.
