The U.S. dollar gained as the euro fell after European Central Bank President Mario Draghi failed to take immediate steps to back up last week’s pledge to do whatever it takes to bolster the euro. Draghi said no countries in the euro zone had asked for support from the European Financial Stability Facility, leaving no ground to take action, but he suggested that the ECB may buy bonds from countries with high yields and that bailout funds should be ready to intervene in bond markets. |
