Corn futures rose more than 5% as investors worry about drought and high temperatures threatening crops in the Midwest. Corn futures finished up 5.3%, at $7.30 a bushel on the Chicago Board of Trade, after active trading at limit up today. Corn has gained about 15% this month. |
Semiconductor stocks headed south, with analysts citing signs of weaker demand and bracing for grim results from the upcoming earnings season. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index lost 1.2%, leading the tech sector retreat. Intel finished up slightly to 26.17 a share. |
