The Commerce Department reported factory orders decreased in March, largly because of a decline in demand for new airplanes. Bookings fell 1.5 percent after a revised 1.1 percent gain in February. |
Companies added the fewest number of workers in seven months in April, indicating the job market is slowing down. Employment increased by only 119,000, which followed a revised downward 201,000 gain for March, according to ADP Employer Services. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg called for a 170,000 advance. |
