| The National Federation of Independent Business said its small-business optimism index rose by 0.8 to 96.1. The NFIB said a record low percentage of small business owners reported problems getting access to capital and a high number say they have no interest in borrowing. | |||||||
| The U.S. and China have made a breakthrough in talks to eliminate duties on a broad range of technology products. The deal covers $1 trillion in trade with China, including semiconductors, medical and navigation devices, among others, according to the Wall Street Journal. The agreement could be ratified asearly as December. The talks took place at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Beijing, which concludes today. | |||||||
| PresidentObama signed an executive order nine months ago to raise the minimum wage for employees of federal contractors to $10.10 an hour. Now, the groups that pushed for the increase say that’s not enough. A coalition of more than a dozen groups yesterday called on the President to sign another executive order to raise the minimum wage for these workers to $15 an hour, saying he can lift millions out of poverty with the stroke of a pen. | |||||||
