The labor market will have “significant slack” even when it crosses the central bank’s 6.5% jobless rate threshold, said Eric Rosengren, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. He says the slack is due to an elevated number of part time workers, the still-high unemployment rate, and the very low inflation rate. |
