The Federal Reserve today proposed restrictions on its role as lender of last resort role during the next financial crisis. During the 2008 financial crisis, the Fed provided as much as $1.2 trillion in public funds as low cost loans to domestic and foreign banks, and broker-dealers from August 2007 through April 2010. |
