The KUIK Closing Market Report for Wednesday, December 13:
Markets finished mixed.
Index Direction Change Units Index Time Change
Dow Up 81 points 24,585 2:10 PM

The Federal Reserve as expected raised its benchmark federal funds rate by a quarter percentage point to between 1.25% and 1.5% — the third and last increase in 2017. The Fed did change its forecast for inflation and still expects three interest rate hikes in 2018. Today was Janet Yellen’s last press conference as Chairman of the Fed. Jerome Powell takes over in early February.
