Legislation to fund Obamacare cost-sharing reduction payments would save the U.S. government $3.8 billion over a decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office. The CBO score may improve passage odds for the bipartisan legislation authored by Sens. Lamar Alexander, Republican from Tennessee Republican, and Patty Murray, Democrate from Washington. Besides funding cost-sharing-reduction payments to insurers, the legislation would make it easier for states to get innovation waivers and increase availability of catastropic plans with high deductibles.
