A federal court ordered Jon Corzine, the former CEO of MF Global, to pay $5 million to settle with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission for Corzine’s role in the unlawful use of $1 billion in customer funds by the firm in October 2011. The court said the former Democratic New Jersey governor and senator also failed to diligently supervise the handling of customer funds. The court barred Corzine from using insurance to pay the penalty. He is prohibited from registering with the commission in any capacity or ever being associated with a futures commission merchant.
