Donald Trump has named Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson to be secretary of state, according to the Trump transition team. “His tenacity, broad experience and deep understanding of geopolitics make him an excellent choice for secretary of state,” the president-elect said in a statement. The confirmation process for Tillerson may be rocky, as some senators have expressed concern about his ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The transition team also announced that President-elect Trump picked former Texas Gov. Rick Perry to be secretary of the Department of Energy.
The import price index fell 0.3% in November accoding to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It was the biggest drop since February, when oil prices also fell. Fuel imports sank 3.9% in November. Excluding fuel, import prices slipped 0.1% and export prices fell 0.1%.
