| .Gold prices have fallen more than 7% this month following April’s loss of 7.8% with the market hurt by outflows from gold-backed exchange-traded funds. June Gold is off its lows but down 1.6%, to $1,356.10 an ounce on the New York Merc, on track for it’s eight straight loss. Silver also is dropping. July Silver fell 2.7%, to $21.75 an ounce. Silver had session low of $21 a level not seen since September 2010. | |||||||
| Yahoo! Announced it is buying blogging network Tumblr for $1.1 billion in cash. Tumblr is headquartered in New York. It will continue to host its more than 108 million blogs, while CEO and founder David Karp, age 26, will remain in charge of the website. | |||||||
| The Japanese government said in its May report that the nation’s economy was slowly improving, marking an upgrade from its views in the April update. The previous outlook had mentioned signs of recovery but with weak spots, according to Reuters. Japanese stocks traded higher Monday, also helped by Friday’s gains on Wall Street, with the Nikkei Stock Average 1.5% in early afternoon action. | |||||||
