The Labor Department reports initial claims for unemployment benefits were unchanged at a  seasonally adjusted 276,000 for the week ended November 7, holding near a 15 year low.  Economists expected 268,000.
Freddie Mac reports the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 3.98% for the week ending November 12, up from last week’s 3.87%. A year ago it was 4.01%.  The 15-year fixed averaged 3.20% up from 3.09%. A year ago it was  3.20%.
The Labor Department also reports Job openings rose in September to their second-highest level since December of 2000 rising to a seasonally adjusted 5.53 million from 5.38 in August. The quits rate was 1.9% for the sixth consecutive month. The hiring rate ticked down slightly to 3.6%.
