| The Stoxx Europe 600 fell 0.8% to 358.08. No sectors were up and basic materials, industrials and financials performed the worst. After trading in Europe closed yesterday, the Federal Reserve announced that it would keep interest rates near zero, saying “recent global economic and financial developments may restrain economic activity somewhat and are likely to put further downward pressure on inflation,” in the near term. | |||||||
| In China, the Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.4% to recover some losses for the week. The index lost 3.2% this week with brokers citing investor nervousness around the Fed’s decision as well as weak economic data. | |||||||
| Under an agreement filed Thursday in Alameda Superior Court, California Attorney General Kamala Harris said Comcast company will pay $22 million in penalties and costs and refund about $8 million to customers. Comcast posted online the names, phone numbers and addresses of an estimated 75,000 customers who had paid for unlisted voice over internet protocol telephone service. | |||||||
