The Federal Open Market Committee winds up its two day meeting today and announces its monetary policy guidance at 11:00 am Pacific time.  Janet Yellen will hold her first press conference as Fed chairman at 11:30.  She will probably face questions on the reduction in bond purchases and recent deterioration in economic conditions.
U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne said his country’s economy is recovering faster than forecast, but that businesses need to invest and export more. Presenting his annual budget at the House of Commons, the finance minister said the Office for Budget Responsibility lifted its growth forecast for 2014 to 2.7% from its 2.4% estimate in December. He highlighted that U.K. growth today is stronger than in Germany, the U.S., and Japan and said the economy is expected to reach its pre-crisis strength later this year.
Fidelity Investment’s research and development laboratory today unveiled its first investing app for smartwatches. Investors can use the app, which will run on the popular Pebble smartwatch, to keep tabs on the market at all times and monitor stock watch lists.  So when your portfolio takes a licking, it keeps on ticking.
