| The Labor Department reports the U.S. added 169,000 new jobs in August, and the number of jobs created in July was revised downward to 104,000 from 162,000, smallest increase since June 2012.. The unemployment rate, dropped slightly to 7.3% from 7.4%, but that was because fewer people were searching for work, The labor force participation rate fell to 63.2%, lowest level since the summer of 1978. | |||||||
| That disappointing jobs report have cut expectations that the Fed will taper its bond buying program. In comments before the jobs report Chicago Fed President Charles Evans said he expects the Federal Reserve to wrap up its asset purchase plan in the middle of 2014 and to make its first rate hike “late” in 2015 and gave a “later this year” forecast on tapering, | |||||||
| The dollar dropped and gold futures rallied. December gold $15.70 to $1,388.3 an ounce on the New York Merc. It was down around $4 ahead of the jobs report. | |||||||
