Markets had a big down day.

The major indexes had for their worst onee-day hit since June, as earnings from large companies, especially in technology weighed on the averages. Oil and gold also fell, with November crude off $2.05 at $90.05 a barrel and December gold losing $20.70 to $1,724 an ounce.
